First week of classes, done!

Hello everyone! I apologize for the huge gap in blog posts. However, besides yesterday, there wasn't much to talk about this past week. I survived my first full week of classes! But it isn't as if I have a packed schedule or anything... I actually am taking 17 units of classes, but I have the most open schedule I've had yet in college! Here is my class schedule to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

Monday:
9-11 AM, German Language
4-6 PM, Baroque Music History

Tuesday:
8:45-10:45 AM, Introduction to Conducting
5-6:30 PM, German History

Wednesday:
9-11 AM, German Language
12-1:30 PM, Baroque Music History

Thursday:
12-1:30 PM, German History

And on top of that load of classes, throughout the semester we will be attending concerts and performances here and there, we'll be traveling, and every week I will be having a private violin lesson with the concertmaster of the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra. So you can see how I didn't have much to blog about after Tuesday, right? Also, my Baroque Music History class didn't meet this past week, so my schedule was even less packed than this!

But we did do something yesterday. We spent the day in the old city of Ladenburg, which is about 45 minutes to an hour away from here. There was an all city festival which takes place once a year, and it was amazing to be a part of! In a certain part of the old town, it's like a maze of streets with vendors after vendors. Everyone from the community comes out to celebrate! People set up their own tables with things to sell; some treat it like a garage sale with old books and musical instruments and clothes, but then others sell handmade things like bags, purses, and jewelry. Anything you could think of is there somewhere! It just takes a little digging. Also, there are marching bands that play on one stage, and rock bands that play on another, and then here and there we saw street musicians. Then everywhere there were tents with great food! It was so yummy. They had everything from bratwurst to Döners to chocolate candy, sour candy, and Gelato.

One sad thing is that I forgot my camera (of course, yet again). You'd think I'd have learned my lesson by now, right? But nope! So tomorrow I'll go through everyone else's pictures and steal them to post for you all.

Enjoy your Sunday, everyone! I hope it's as relaxing as mine was :)
